Caitlin and Brandon Wedding- The French Estate, Orange County

Caitlins makeup was done by Micheline Pitt and hair was done by Jessica Blakeley. Both ladies did an amazing job!

Caitlin and Brandon opted to see eachother before the ceremony which is the best decision you will ever make on your wedding day! I promise! Here is a fun perspective that Scott captured.

The French Estate in Orange County is absolutely the most splendid place to hold your wedding or event. Scott and I have already decided it is in the running for where we will hold our 10 year vows. There is an ongoing french theme through out the location full of beautiful decorations and structures. The French Estate has everything you could possibly need for a successful and happy day!!

Flowers are by Marla Hudnell. She did a beautiful job on the flowers for the day! Contact me if you would like her info!

Their beautiful cake was the works of Rockwell’s Creative Cakes and the cute cake topper was created by NakedPeggies

Event coordinated by Kristeen LaBrot who couldn’t have possibly done a better job! Everything was amazing from beginning to end!

The Biltmore Hotel:Day After Session:Liz and Damon

Your wedding day might not go as planned. Point blank. I know mine sure didn’t. =) Liz and Damons September wedding was beautiful! Lots of love and lots of people there to share their most special day with them! Unfortunately a few instances happened with limo drivers that held them back about an hour. We had just enough time to take some portraits of their wedding party but it turned out we didn’t have enough time for their own portraits. Luckily…that is the only thing we can possibly photograph later for you!!! I just love how everything worked out perfectly in the end. Liz and Damon put their gorgeous wedding clothes back on, we headed back down to The Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles and pretended it was their wedding day all over again.

If you find yourself jam packing every event and time to take portraits when coordinating your schedule for your wedding day…you might want to reconsider a few things.

1. The First Look. This allows you to see your love before the ceremony and allows lots of time to get your portraits done then. We can also bust out your wedding party portraits as well before the ceremony which will allow you to party with your friends and family right after the I Dos during cocktail hour which is usually the time that we steal you away for pictures.

2. A Day After Session. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the day after but 2-4 weeks after will do! Put on your fab clothes again, we can go to different locations, spend more time taking portraits, you will get alot more options and time and you don’t have to worry about missing anything on your wedding day!

I love making new friends and meeting new people. It is hard for me to put myself out there to do this though. I get comfortable. We all do. It is hard to step out of our comfort zone and do something we normally don’t do. In school we talked about networking, but honestly I had no idea what that really meant. When I moved out to this huge lonely state of California..not knowing one soul..I knew my best bet would be to network within the industry to meet people. Wellll…networking is still something I am working on..but I have been focusing on making friends with fellow photographers that I find myself to have things in common with and can relate to. Cause..otherwise..networking is just kissing butt..and I don’t do that. I have met a handful of AMAZING photographers that I have become friends with. One is Heidi Ryder. She is the girl that makes me buy everything and anything owls because I hope it will make her smile. She is so funny, down to earth and an amazing talent! She invited me along to shoot with her last weekend and I am so happy she did!

The wedding was the last of the bunch ever to be held at Serenity Oaks Ranch in San Diego (sounds like a retirement home right?) and upon entering the grounds that deeply saddened me. Serenity Oaks Ranch is one full of character and charm with that given ranch rustic feel. Luckily they are opening up a new location in Temecula, California! It was perfect for Jennifer and James garden themed wedding!

Congratulations Jennifer and James! You two are adorable together! Thank you Heidi for the wonderful time! What do I get for not putting any of those ‘blackmail’ photos into the post?

Milwaukee, WI Wedding Photography: Rachel and Billy

I was very honored when I was asked to photograph the wedding of Rachel and Billy. I went to school with these two amazing photographers and unfortunately our paths never crossed the 10 months we were there. Chaz and I ventured to Milwaukee and were instantly treated like royalty. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time and were the most comfortable we could be. The photography of Rachel and Billys wedding day was the most important aspect to them. They planned everything out and made sure we had tons of awesome locations to photograph them in. We honestly could have made awesome images of these two anywhere because 1. they are both drop dead gorgeous 2. they are soooo photogenic ( they fall right into poses naturally) 3. they are so in love with one another! Even though I hardly knew Rachel and Billy before their wedding, I left Milwaukee having made several friends and I am so honored that I now can call these two beautiful souls friends.

This guitar was Billys wedding present from Rachel. He wrote her a beautiful song on it and played it for her for the first time at the reception. She cried..I cried..there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Trust. That was an element that flowed through out the day. Rachel and Billy had so much trust in us..if we had an idea they went with it..no hesitations. This is an example.

Like I mentioned before…they thought out the photography alot! Of course photography being one of their biggest passions in life they wanted it to be perfect. We were discussing unique options for their first look and this is what we came up with. It was so simple but yet soo sweet.

Another special thing that Billy did for Rachel is he planned their honeymoon as a surprise for her. She had no idea where they were going! When setting up this shot in The Iron Horses library he sneakily snuck a France book into it…because that is where he surprised her for their honeymoon! WOOO! It was so hard to contain my excitement during this shot..I am really bad at keeping surprises but thankfully everyone kept this a secret and they enjoyed 10 wonderful days in Paris together! So romantic!

I love this photograph of Billys father embracing him after the ceremony. He married the two and his words were absolutely unique, personal and honest. I found myself really diving into the ceremony and listening..which is always a wonderful aspect of my “job”.

Billy and Rachel…seriously thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting me to be a part of your day. It really is an honor and I adore you two so much! I can’t wait until my path brings me to Charleston, South Carolina to enjoy the beauty and make more memories together! I am sincerely so happy for you two!

There are so many things I absolutely adored about this wedding. The color palette. Shanelle and Mike writing their own vows. Their inability to hold back tears from joy and pure love. Their sincere and gentle first look. Shanelles cowboy boots. Mikes vintage grey suit. Their families and friends at their hand and foot to make everything go perfect for them. Catchphrase to calm the nerves.The candy bar…mmmm. Green apples. Their awesome array of songs during the dancing hours. How much they made sure Scott and I were taken care of and having a good time. The sunlight. The Red Horse Barn. Huntington Beach.The fact that it was extremely hard to pick out favorites of mine for this blog post cause I loved every single image…I just loved this whole wedding.

Shanelle and Mike chose to see eachother before the ceremony last minute. I recommend this to all of my couples. I hope the next few images sum up why..I mean..wouldn’t you want these intimate moments to look at forever??

Shanelle chose yellow roses because that is what her mom walked down the aisle with at her own wedding…so sweet.

When I was done taking the girls portraits I dismissed them to happy hour. They looked kind of bummed and I asked what was wrong..they then said they really wanted to do jumping pictures. I had wanted to do them too but I was afraid of them hurting
themselves with their heels in the grass…these girls are champs!! <3 Love you guys!

These next pictures made me so happy that I was standing there at that particular moment…

Shanelle and Mike..my cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much on your very special day and a smile still appears across my face even while posting these. Scott and I are so happy for you two! Congratulations! <3

Cynthia and Gareths wedding was anything but traditional. From her custom designed purple wedding gown, to having their friend Nathan be the officiant and reading off things their guests wrote about them during the ceremony, saying their vows at the exact same time to teaching their wedding guests salsa dancing. I was very excited for their wedding day after their engagement session when I witnessed their chemistry and was priveldged to capture it for them in picture form. The way these two look at eachother is incredible..they really are in their own little world and I adore that about them. Their wedding day took place on Ocean Ave in Long Beach at The Westin and The Long Beach Museum of Art. Gareths friends and family flew in from overseas from his home pad of Wales while Cynthias family was there from Minnesota and tons of local friends were there dancing their butts off and working so hard to make this day go so smoothly..and they did such a wonderful job! Cynthia and Gareth..I am truly so happy for you! Congratulations!!!
